In 1992, a young man named Chris McCandless sought to experience true nature. He ventured into the harsh wilds of Alaska, dying of starvation after surviving 113 days with limited supplies. Post-mortem, Chris turned into a celebrity. His death sparked national headlines, spawned several books, and inspired thousands of young adventurers to take pilgrimages to the place of his death.
In July, A-Way Productions presents “True Nature”, a play inspired by real events. We follow the story of his sister, Carine McCandless, retracing Chris’s steps as she attempts to come to terms with his passing. What drove Chris into breaking off all ties with friends and family? And what are the consequences of severing those ties? In her journey, she meets the people Chris left behind.
